so

Oct. 29th, 2007 | 09:40 am

can we say TOTAL NEGLECT OF DOLLY JOURNAL?! i think we can.

so here's an update:

my n-dolls miru has been happy at home with me for MONTHS now. but she has been photographed seldom. between breaking up with the BF, traveling to South Korea, moving into a new place, and now working two jobs (read: 7 days a week. AH!), i've had very little time to break out my creative side and let my muses do their work.

more photos of her can be found here.

and more photos of the rest of the midgets can be found here.

i went to my first doll meet last night. however since the party started at 2. i didn't get out of work until 5. i had to shower. and i had to drive an hour to get to albuquerque... i didn't get there until about 7:30. by that time everyone had left. the last 3 girls were just heading out the door. i was so heartbroken. it was lovely to spend time with elljaye, though. she has twenty some-odd dolls and they were alll gorgeous. it was great seeing a large sized bjd for the first time. they are HEAVY. the fact that people can actually pose them boggles my mind. and i got some great advice from her as to how keep poor lahleh's (the n-doll's) wig on her head. the answer? make a bathing cap out of a fresh, un-inflated balloon. adhere velcro to the inside of the wig and the balloon/cap. voila. well-affixed wig and no velcro stuck to my little lady's actual resin.

oh oh! and. i DID get to meet Bimong of Narin Creative! you can read all about it here. it was incredible to see his workshop. i still can't really believe it actually happened. i feel like the luckiest girl in the bjd community. hands down.

and finally. today's shopping list so i can actually get down to business.

velcro.
large cork board to hold backdrops in place.
super-fine sand paper to flatten the bottoms of lorenzo's feet so i can help him stand steadier.

kisses to you all. i miss you.

itty bitty banji boobies.

Mar. 3rd, 2007 | 12:29 pm

so i just redid my new banji's eyebrows and lips (they're okay, but not what i was dreaming of) as well as her blushing. i'm trying to make her look a touch older.

anyhow.

here she be:

a new forum

Feb. 28th, 2007 | 09:32 pm

soooo. recent banning of people on DOA, and a desire to just "talk" to people who share the same hobby, has inspired me to start my own message board.

french resin friends

it's devoted mainly, but not entirely, to the love of french resin ball-jointed dolls.

yup!

have fun! talk! be friends! yay!

banji bungee

Feb. 28th, 2007 | 04:29 pm

so i just found out that my banji girl had an attempted delivery today! they come so early in the day i don't even have a CHANCE to try and catch the delivery person... so now i must hope that he comes back around again at the end of his shift like he did with lorenzo's body, or wait and pick her up tomorrow from the post office which is a pain in the bum to get parking at.

*sigh*

she's so close. but so far away.

narae heartbreak, music discussions, and a heart attack

Feb. 25th, 2007 | 02:27 pm

here are some photos of lorenzo wishing i was dead (aka me showing you that the heartbreak face truly is unisex).

girly lorenzo )

and some photos of ludovic and lorenzo discussing music.
i just touched up ludo's eyebrows and lips. eyebrows were reasonably easy. lips were a pain in the ass.

vinyl or CD? )

and as far as the heart attack thing goes... i just realized that so far i've spent $120 on the bimong book project! *vomits till passing out*

i mean. it's going to be worth it. but my god. scrapbooking supplies are fucking expensive. (excuse my language. but if you knew me you'd know that i don't swear unless i really mean it.)

ludo and lorenzo

Feb. 24th, 2007 | 03:30 pm

so budgetary issues (and me adopting a banji girl off of marketplace) have forced me to officially call my narin heartbreak Lorenzo, instead of having it be another expression for Ludovic. but really, the more i see this face, the less i'm able to associate it as being Ludo, anyway. he has a very different personality. very commanding, rather than simply sad. manipulative in a way that Ludo would never be, but Lorenzo always is.

so, here are the brothers: )

a list of wishes

Feb. 10th, 2007 | 11:04 am

so, i guess at this time, since i won't be taking any new photos today, i'll share with you the other dolls that i would like to add to my wee resin family.

you'll note that all but one of them is french resin, and all the artists are friends or students of bimong... i'm just drawn to the certain aesthetic they all seem to share:

Ludo: poster child for "emo"

Feb. 9th, 2007 | 06:06 pm

i dug out my manual SLR (no, not digital) today and snapped some photos of ludo with his new bella facia.

i think he looks oddly like Cameron Diaz in the second one...

forgive the washed out face. my light meter was freaking out with the contrast of white resin against black.

and some outtakes that i didn't love quite as much, but are worth seeing )

heartbreak

Feb. 9th, 2007 | 02:31 pm

ludo's heartbreak face arrived today!

initially i looked at it with skepticism... the colors aren't quiiite right (not that i could expect basicline to get them perfect by going off a photo of work she had done months and months ago) and he looked a bit mature. i thought "oh my goodness, this is lorenzo! not ludo!"

but then i photographed him and realized, yes... this is my sad ludo. it really really is:

now i need to order a matching pair of ludo's hazel eyes so i don't have to worry about switching them during photo shoots. as well as some eye putty. where on earth can i buy eye putty?

my bjd history

Feb. 7th, 2007 | 12:21 pm
location: my desk
mood: pensive pensive
music: work sounds

my first interest in ball-jointed dolls was sparked by artist Dollseye and her deviantart gallery (http://dollseye.deviantart.com). her collection of artist dolls put me in awe.

summer of last year i rediscovered her on flickr.com. her collection of both dolls and artwork had grown.
